Brewing Progress

September 26, 2010

I visited The Calgary Brewing and Malting Company again, this time bringing some photographer friends.  It’s the old brewery here in Calgary Alberta that operated as a Molson brewery before it was shut down.  Last time I came I didn’t bring a flashlight.  This time I brought a little one so I was able to venture further but not as far as I would have liked. I have produced a limited edition of this image of 6 prints, 8×10 inches. They’ll be available for sale at Studio Todorovic.

We stopped along the train tracks that run along-side 9th Avenue. Francis Willey constructed a metal contraption to hold his camera for a self portrait while I gathered discarded personal belongings for a still life. The day had a good vibe going for it then it got even better when we ran into a photographer friend of Francis’s. We spent half the afternoon wandering the old brewery, stepping over dead pigeons and bumping in the dark. It was a fun day.

These two images are scans of prints created in the darkroom. I’m going to try to scan prints rather than negatives as often as I can because it will force me to work harder at my printing process. These ones turned out fairly easy to print.
